Even in an age where handwritten letters have become a relic of the past, there is one type of snail-mail missive that remains remarkably popular: holiday greeting cards.

Perhaps it’s the warm glow of holiday tradition that gives paper cards their staying power. For many families, purchasing, writing, and sending holiday cards has been an inseparable part of the season for generations. In the last half of the 20th century, it became customary to include a family photo with Christmas cards.
And that brings us to this season’s photo contest! Do you have an old greeting card wishing your ancestors a happy holiday? It doesn’t have to be a commercial greeting card — maybe it’s just a photograph with an inscription, or a postcard… maybe even a child’s drawing. Scan the card, share it on social media, tag us, and enter for a chance to win a free Complete subscription on MyHeritage!
How to enter the contest
- Scan your historical holiday card. Make sure to include both sides and/or the interior! If the card includes a photograph, you can use the MyHeritage photo tools to colorize, enhance, repair, or animate it — but you don’t have to.
- Share the images of your holiday card on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok, or email them to us at stories@myheritage.com. Be sure to include a few words about the background: who sent this card to whom and when? Why is it significant to you? We love a good story!
- When posting on social media, make sure to tag MyHeritage and add the hashtag #FamilyHolidayCards
The winner will be announced on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
