Conference Recap: IAJGS 2025

We’re back from Fort Wayne, Indiana where we attended the 45th IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy. From August 10-14, Jewish genealogists came together for a week of educational sessions, activities, and fun. It was wonderful to see old friends and reunite with several Geni curators in-person.

The Geni booth

Geni had a booth in the exhibit hall and many attendees stopped by with questions about their Geni accounts. Last year the Geni Pathfinder was made available to IAJGS attendees for the first time. It was a fun way for attendees to discover how they were related to other attendees in Geni’s World Family Tree. We happily brought it back this year and many people were eager to participate. Throughout the conference, Geni users would stop by to let us know that they found some new connections, including unknown connections between their friends!

One of our favorite parts of the conference is the opportunity to spend time with Geni curators in person. We always look forward to our Geni curator dinners!

Although this year’s conference was smaller than in the past, Geni users were able to spend more time working on their trees at the Geni booth. For the conference, we granted free access to our Geni Pro tools and free access to MyHeritage Record Matches and Smart Matches at the booth computers. A few people took advantage of the down time to review and confirm their matches to their Geni profiles.

There were also many evening activities planned during the conference, including a baseball game! Many conference attendees made their way to Parkview Field to attend a minor league baseball game between the Fort Wayne TinCaps and the West Michigan Whitecaps. It was a great to spend time with everyone outside of the convention center.

Next year’s conference will be virtual. If you were unable to make it in-person this year, perhaps you can catch it from the comfort of your own home in 2026. We hope to see you there!
