Geni’s World Family Tree Reaches 200 Million Profiles!

We’re thrilled to share an exciting new milestone – Geni’s World Family Tree has now surpassed 200 million profiles!

A Global Family, Built Together

This incredible achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our amazing community of genealogists, family history enthusiasts, and volunteer curators from around the world. Together, we are building the most comprehensive and collaborative family tree ever created.

The World Family Tree is a single, shared family tree that connects people from all walks of life, across countries and centuries. Reaching 200 million profiles is more than just a number – it represents countless hours of careful research, collaboration, and a collective desire to preserve and share our common history.

Thank You to the Geni Community

We are especially grateful to our team of volunteer curators, who continue to play a vital role in maintaining the quality and accuracy of the tree. Their expertise, commitment, and generosity make it possible to keep the World Family Tree well-organized and growing stronger every day.

To every Geni user who has added, merged, or documented even a single profile – thank you. Whether you’ve helped connect distant branches or just beginning your family history research, your contributions matter and are deeply appreciated.

If you’re not yet connected to the World Family Tree, now is the perfect time to dive into your family history. Keep researching and building your tree and watch out for new tree matches. As you are expanding the tree, Geni is automatically looking for duplicate profiles to help you quickly uncover and connect with new relatives. By connecting to the World Family Tree, you may uncover unexpected connections to historical figures, distant cousins, or even new branches of your family.

Already Connected? Keep the Momentum Going!

And for those of you already connected – keep up the amazing work! Continue collaborating, sourcing, and merging with fellow Geni users to grow and improve the World Family Tree. Every new connection brings us one step closer to a more complete picture of our global family.

One of the most impactful ways to contribute is by reviewing and updating the profiles you’ve already added. Revisit your relatives’ profiles to ensure names, dates, and locations are accurate. Take a moment to add any missing details that can give future generations a fuller picture of their ancestors. And most importantly – include your sources! If profiles are missing supporting records, such as birth records, census records, or obituaries, now is a great time to add them. These sources not only add credibility, but also help other researchers verify and build on your work.

You can also help merge duplicate profiles to help reduce fragmentation in the tree and bring branches closer together. Review your Merge Center to see if you have any pending merges, tree conflicts, or data conflicts. Take a look at your tree matches too! Perhaps you can help connect unlinked relatives to the World Family Tree.

Don’t forget to invite your relatives to collaborate! Family members may hold valuable information, old photos, or family stories you’ve never heard. Getting them involved can enrich the shared tree and preserve memories that might otherwise be lost.

Every small contribution adds up to something remarkable. Let’s keep building, connecting, and discovering together!
