We’re excited to announce that LiveMemory
is now available on the MyHeritage website! LiveMemory is our groundbreaking feature that transforms any still photo into an incredible video clip. Last November, we first released LiveMemory on the MyHeritage mobile app, and now we’ve completed the picture by making it available on the website, too. Since its release, LiveMemory quickly gained popularity and received rave reviews. Over a half a million LiveMemory videos have been created, enabling anyone to reenact beloved family photos and share them with their loved ones.
Once a photo is uploaded, LiveMemory can animate it automatically. It can reimagine how the scene took place, or you can select from custom animations and choose what happens in the video. The custom animations are designed to make you smile, laugh, and evoke that sweet sense of nostalgia. They consist of 5 emotional gestures: hugging, kissing, dancing, laughing, and singing. If you’re feeling more playful, try out the fun effects like underwater, zero gravity, or watch your ancestors run as T-Rex storms into the scene! We’ve also added two new effects: hair raiser and whispering a secret. Try them out yourself to see what they do!
LiveMemory enables anyone to meaningfully reminisce about the past and bring your favorite scenes to life. It’s a fun feature to use and once you start, you won’t want to stop!

How it works
LiveMemory uses cutting-edge AI technology to animate whole photos and simulate the scenes depicted in them in a highly realistic way. LiveMemory is perfect for reenacting nostalgic family photos. It also works well on photos with non-human subjects such as pets or vehicles.
Using LiveMemory on the MyHeritage website
To access LiveMemory, hover over the Photos tab on the main menu and select “LiveMemory”.

Alternatively, visit livememory.com or myheritage.com/livememory (both will take you to the same page). If you don’t have a MyHeritage account yet, you’ll need to sign up for free to use LiveMemory. Click “Upload photo” or drag and drop the photo you want to animate into the frame.

Once your photo is uploaded, choose how you want to animate it. To apply a specific gesture or fun effect, click “Choose a custom animation”. To have the AI automatically reenact the scene in the photo, click “Relive the memory”. Then, click “Continue”.

When choosing a custom animation, hover over the thumbnail of the different gestures and effects to see a preview of the animation. Click on the animation of your choice and then click “Create your LiveMemory”.

Before you can create your video, you’ll be asked to consent to the LiveMemory terms.
Creating a LiveMemory typically takes only a few minutes. We’ll email you as soon as your LiveMemory is ready with a link to view your video. In the meantime, you can create more LiveMemories by clicking the orange button.

You can view all LiveMemory videos from the email links. In the future, we will add the ability to view all LiveMemory videos from the “My Photos” section of the website.
Sharing
Once you see your memories come to life, we expect that you’ll be amazed and you’ll want to share them with friends and family. You can easily share your LiveMemory videos on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), Bluesky, WhatsApp, and other social media. You can also download the video to your computer. We encourage you to share your video clips with the hashtags #MyHeritage and #LiveMemory. To share your LiveMemory, use the “Share” buttons on the left side of the page.

Privacy
Any photo you upload to create a LiveMemory will be stored in your account on MyHeritage, to enable you to use the other MyHeritage photo enhancement features. If you want to delete a LiveMemory, you can do so using the MyHeritage mobile app. MyHeritage will not license or sell your photos to third parties and will not use them to train internal AI models. LiveMemory is based on technology from a third party that does not obtain rights to your photo or the output video. Your explicit consent is required, granting MyHeritage permission to process your photo before activating the LiveMemory feature.
Responsible use
Please use LiveMemory responsibly: do not upload photos of living people unless you receive their prior permission. Do not upload photos that depict hate, violence, pornography, or any offensive subject matter. Do not upload photos of military scenes, or scenes with wounded or dead people. Do not share results that may humiliate or offend anyone. Do not remove the AI symbol from the corner of the resulting videos. If any of the results have the potential to offend anyone, do not share it. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Cost
LiveMemory is a premium feature on MyHeritage. Occasionally, we run special promotions where users can create a limited number of LiveMemory videos for free* and we’re currently running one now. Otherwise, an annual Photo plan or Omni plan is required. Users with a Photo plan can create 20 LiveMemory videos annually. Users with a MyHeritage Omni plan can create 30 videos annually. Once you reach the annual quota for your plan, you’ll have to wait until your next subscription renewal to create more videos. Learn more about the MyHeritage subscription plans here.
*As a special gift to our users to celebrate the release of LiveMemory on the MyHeritage website, we have reset all the free uses of LiveMemory for users who have tried the feature before, so that everyone can try LiveMemory again for free.

We have several enhancements planned, including adding new animations, creating a LiveMemory from photos that have already been uploaded to MyHeritage, displaying LiveMemory videos in the My Photos section of the website, and more. Watch this space for future updates.
