Geneanet now launches Geneanet DNA, a new beta test service which allows you to upload the raw data of a DNA test kit taken with any company, to compare it to other Geneanet members’ DNA data, and to find members whith whom you share DNA segments. You are going to find new relatives!
You only have to download your raw DNA data from the site of your provider and to upload it to our database. It’s very easy and Geneanet helps you with tutorials if you have taken a DNA test kit at AncestryDNA, 23andMe, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA or Living DNA.
Geneanet deals with the rest of it thanks to powerful matching tools.
To be able to provide results by matching the DNA of the Geneanet members, we need to quickly have a sufficient number of DNA data. To achieve this, do not hesitate to encourage the DNA relatives who have not yet uploaded their raw DNA data to Geneanet to do it.
At Geneanet, we do genealogy, only genealogy. We think that DNA tests are an additional tool for finding new relatives.
Of course, this new service does not replace genealogy research as we do it for years but it’s an additional way of finding new branches and relatives.
Why uploading your DNA data to Geneanet?

The Geneanet DNA service is free: you can get the list of your DNA relatives and contact them. Unlike some other websites, you don’t need a paid subscription to view the family tree of another member and to contact a member on Geneanet.
Geneanet is a website located in Europe which respect the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under this regulation, Geneanet cannot use the DNA data of its members for some other purpose than their agreed purpose. Like for your family tree, you remain the owner of your DNA data and you can remove them at any time.
Two persons who have taken a DNA test with two different providers will have the opportunity to find DNA relatives through the Geneanet DNA database.
