Today actress Angelina Jolie celebrates her 46th birthday!

Jolie was born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California to actors John Voight and Marcheline Betrand. After her parents separated, Jolie and her brother were largely raised by their mother. Jolie began acting at a young age, studying at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute as a teen. Her breakthrough performance in the 1998 television drama Gia earned Jolie an Emmy award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. Two years later, she won her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Girl, Interrupted.
Throughout her career, Jolie has found critical acclaim and box office success in a wide range of films from dramas to animation to action-packed movies. Recently, Jolie has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thena in the upcoming superhero film Eternals.
In addition to her film career, Jolie is known for her philanthropic and humanitarian work. In 2001, she was named a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. After more than a decade of service as Goodwill Ambassador, she was appointed Special Envoy in 2012.
