Saget was born on May 17, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Benjamin Saget and Rosalyn “Dolly” Comer. After graduating from Temple University, Saget briefly attended the University of Southern California to study film. He dropped out after a few days and decided to pursue a career as a stand-up comic.

In 1987, he landed what would become the most iconic role of his career, widowed father Danny Tanner in the sitcom Full House. The show ran for eight seasons and made Saget one of television’s most famous and beloved dads. He later reprised his role in the show’s sequel series Fuller House on Netflix. A staple on television, Saget was also known as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

After the end of Full House, Saget returned to the comedy circuit. His comedy routine was far edgier and foul-mouthed than the wholesome image he portrayed on television. A fixture in stand-up comedy, Saget was in the midst of a comedy tour at the time of his death.

RIP Bob Saget (1956-2022).
