He was born on January 8, 1935 in a two-room shotgun house built by his father. His twin brother, Jesse, was delivered 35 minutes before him stillborn. The Presley’s were a very close family and even after shooting to fame, the close bond Presley had with his family, especially with his mother, remained.

Presley’s love of music began at a young age and at 11, he was given his first guitar. He chose to pursue a career in music and by 1956, Presley got his big break with his first hit song, “Heartbreak Hotel.” That same year, Presley starred in his first movie, Love Me Tender, which became a box office hit. An international star, Presley released many more hit records and his performances attracted massive crowds. Some of the biggest songs of his career include “Jailhouse Rock,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” and “Suspicious Minds.”
