Happy birthday to Jason Bateman! Today the actor turns 51.

Bateman was born on January 14, 1969 in Rye, New York to Victoria Elizabeth, a flight attendant for Pan Am, and Kent Bateman, a writer and director. His family moved around the country before finally settling in Los Angeles, California. Bateman and his sister, Justine, began acting at an early age and they both found early success on television.
In 1981, Bateman made his television debut with a recurring role on Little House on the Prairie. He next starred in the popular sitcom, Silver Spoons. He quickly developed an interest in working behind the camera and at the age of 18, he became the youngest person inducted to the Directors Guild of America after directing three episodes of the television series, The Hogan Family.
Bateman experienced a career resurgence in 2003 as the star of the critically acclaimed TV comedy Arrested Development. Although the show was never a huge hit, it had garnered a cult following and helped revitalize Bateman’s career. Currently, Bateman stars in the drama series Ozark, for which he recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
Fun fact: Did you know Jason Bateman’s father-in-law is singer Paul Anka? Bateman married Anka’s daughter, Amanda, in 2001.
