We are thrilled to announce that MyHeritage’s Tribal Quest website has been nominated for a Webby Award in the category of Websites: Corporate Social Responsibility, and selected as a Webby Honoree in the category of Websites: Best Use of Photography!

A Webby Award is an award for excellence on the Internet presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences — widely considered “the Oscars of the Internet.” In each category, two awards are presented: one selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and a People’s Voice Award selected by popular vote.

About Tribal Quest

Tribal Quest is a pro bono initiative to document the family histories and cultural traditions of remote indigenous tribes throughout the globe. We’ve sent teams of volunteers to the stark tundras of Siberia, the scorching savannahs of Namibia, the lush jungles of Papua New Guinea, and most recently, into the heart of the Amazon rainforest to help remote communities preserve their family stories, legends, and traditions for future generations. As globalization and environmental changes threaten these communities’ traditional way of life, it is more important than ever to ensure that their legacies will not be lost or forgotten.

The purpose of the Tribal Quest website is to showcase a small taste of what our teams learned about these remote communities, and to tell their stories through photographs, footage, quotes from tribesmen, and information on their lifestyle, traditions, and beliefs.
