Is it that special ornament that’s been in the family for generations? A memorable holiday song or carol? A holiday recipe that’s been passed down from generation to generation? Sending a holiday card out each year? While the holidays may look a bit different this year, we’d like to celebrate your family’s time-honored traditions as well as applaud you for the new ones that you’ll be starting this year!
We invite you to share your traditions by entering the MyHeritage Holiday Challenge!
To enter, tell us about your family’s holiday tradition on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #MyHolidayHeritage. Make sure to follow and tag our social channels. If you prefer, you can also submit your entry via email by sending it to email@example.com. All entries must be received by December 20, 2020.
We’ll be offering three lucky users a choice of either a MyHeritage Complete plan or a MyHeritage DNA kit — the winners get to choose!.
Why holiday traditions are important
The holidays are a chance for everyone in the family to take a moment and really appreciate each other — and family traditions help to deepen that connection. They remind us of our shared history, and that history is something that is truly special; something that deserves to be remembered time and time again.
The history that you share with your family is unique. Traditions are a way for us to honor that history and preserve it for posterity.
Keeping your holiday traditions in 2020
No matter where in the world your family is this year, we want to honor the efforts families are making to keep their family traditions a part of 2020. Perhaps you plan to get everyone together on a video call where you each participate in your tradition from home? This may even be a great opportunity to include additional family members who wouldn’t normally be able to visit in person.
If you’re looking for ways to bond with relatives and dive into your family history, MyHeritage offers many wonderful opportunities. First, you can give someone you love a MyHeritage gift membership. They can build their family tree (perhaps you can even collaborate), search through our online collections of 12.6 billion historical records, and colorize and enhance family photos. You can also purchase a DNA kit at an exceptional price that will help you expand your family circle and meet new relatives. Learn more about how to give these meaningful gifts of discovery at myheritage.com/gift-shop.
Possibly the greatest thing about family traditions is the fact that there are absolutely no rules for creating them. Perhaps 2020 offers new opportunities to start a new family tradition? We can’t wait to read about your creativity and get inspired by how you’ll be celebrating the holidays this season.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy holiday season!
