It was with great sorrow that this week we said goodbye to our colleague and friend Chris Darrington, who passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 9, 2020.
Chris was MyHeritage’s Conference Events Manager, a role he held for the last two years. He was a long-standing staff member, having been one of the top-rated salespeople in our Utah-based Sales team for over six years prior to joining the conference team.
Many people will recognize Chris’s smiling face from the MyHeritage booth at genealogy conferences across the U.S. Chris was involved in all stages of event planning, from booking booth space and shipping equipment to setting up the booth. He also gave demos and lectures and provided support with great patience, kindness, and humor. He had a natural rapport with MyHeritage users and other genealogy enthusiasts, who appreciated his genuine passion for family history.
Most recently he worked quietly and diligently behind the scenes at RootsTech 2020 to make sure everything ran smoothly, often working long hours, day and night, and driving long distances to pick up stock and equipment. He always tried to fulfill requests, however last minute, with great enthusiasm and respect.
Chris was a great guy to work with, with a can-do attitude. He would go out of his way to help people and find solutions. He will be sorely missed by his colleagues in the Utah office and the whole MyHeritage team.
Chris was 36 and is survived by his wife Sara and four young children. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help Chris’s family in their time of need. To donate click on this link: https://gf.me/u/x7y2wd.
