Today we remember Diana, Princess of Wales on what would have been her 60th birthday. Fondly known as the People’s Princess, Diana was one of the most adored members of the British royal family.

Diana Frances Spencer was born into an aristocratic English family on June 1, 1961 in Sandringham, England. In 1981, she married Charles, Prince of Wales, in a lavish ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral, which was seen worldwide by over 750 million viewers. The marriage produced two sons, William and Harry, and ended in divorce in 1996.

After her marriage, she continued to devote much of her time to a variety of charities, using her celebrity to help raise awareness for causes around the world. Her dedication and compassion was admired by many, and even after her sudden death at the age of 36, continues to inspire people across the globe.
