Happy birthday to Steve Martin! Today the actor turns 74.

Born in Waco, Texas on August 14, 1945, Martin grew up in Southern California. He landed his firs job as a teen selling guidebooks at Disneyland and later, worked at the Magic Shop in the park where he frequently performed magic tricks for patrons.
Martin’s big break came in 1976 when he hosted his first episode of the late-night comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live. He went on to star in a number of successful comedies on the big screen including The Jerk, The Three Amigos!, and The Pink Panther.
In addition to his success on screen, Martin has written several plays and novellas. A talented musician, Martin also plays the banjo in a bluegrass band and in 2010, won a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album.
